Food ration booklet of the Jewish Rescue Committee in Lemberg, Dos Yidishe Retungs Komite, Provisioning Section, legitimation number 64-II, 1919, printed throughout in Yiddish. The cover carries fields for the holder's name, the number of family members, the house number, the occupation and the period of validity, the signatures of the secretary and the chairman and the committee handstamp with a Star of David. The inner pages hold monthly ration tables for August, September, October and November 1919, with columns for bread, flour, tea and coffee, sugar, pulses, potatoes, meat, coal, firewood and cash. The printer's imprint at the foot of the cover reads Druk. Artura Goldmana Lwow. The booklet was issued to a Jewish resident of Lemberg, Lwow, today Lviv in Ukraine, in the year after the November 1918 pogrom in the city and during the Polish Ukrainian war, when the Jewish community was left in hunger and the Jewish relief organisations distributed food by ration.
