Letter of the Committee of the Jewish Community of Jaffa and Tel Aviv (Kneseth Israel), Social Assistance Department, to Rabbi Meir Dickstein, Tel Aviv, 20.11.1935, signed by the secretary Yaakov Ramon, on the Committee's official letterhead with the Committee's watermark in the paper - Typed official letter on the letterhead of the Committee of the Jewish Community of Jaffa and Tel Aviv, Kneseth Israel (Telephone 605, P.O.B. 9), dated Tel Aviv, 24 Cheshvan 5696, 20.11.1935, to ”the dear and esteemed Rabbi Meir Dickstein, here”. Signed by hand by Yaakov Ramon, Secretary of the Social Assistance Department. Content: the secretary acknowledges the Rabbi's letter, describes the department's severe financial straits and the cuts forced upon it (”for whole weeks we worked without a penny”), and promises that as long as he serves in the Social Assistance Department of the Tel Aviv Community Committee the Rabbi will receive ”full assistance as before”, and that he will try to help him from other sources as well. Closes with the blessing that the God of Israel grant him a fresh and vigorous old age and all good. Watermark: the paper carries the Committee's large watermark, repeated twice down the sheet, the inscription ”Kneseth Israel, Committee of the Jewish Community of Jaffa and Tel Aviv, Eretz Israel” in Hebrew and English and a drawing of an arcaded building, clearly visible in the photograph. In the lower corner, the printed emblem of the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael) with the words ”stamp value paid”. Complete sheet. Fold marks, creases, small tears at the edges and corners, stains. The back is blank, with the typing showing through the paper. Condition exactly as photographed.
