Rare Dragoon cap (kepi), model 1862, Russian Empire. - Item details Description Rare Dragoon cap (kepi), model 1862, Russian Empire. An exceptional and scarce example of a Russian Imperial Dragoon kepi, model 1862, worn during the reign of Tsar Alexander II. This kepi is constructed from fine black and red wool felt with a pronounced front peak and leather chin strap affixed by original imperial buttons bearing the Russian double-headed eagle. The front features a large, brass badge of the Russian Empire's double-headed eagle, mounted below a tricolor cockade and a banner inscribed in Cyrillic: “For distinction in the capture of Western Caucasus”. The interior is lined in black cotton with a museum tag from the “Museum of the Life Guard Dragoon Regiment”. The kepi remains in excellent condition for its age, retaining its vivid colors and crisp details.
