This mid-20th-century French military-style combat dagger, known as the ”Le Commando” model, is a refined example of tactical edged weaponry produced in the historic cutlery center of Nogent-en-Bassigny. Drawing clear design inspiration from the iconic British Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife, the weapon features a slender, double-edged stiletto blade crafted from stainless steel. The oval crossguard serves as the primary site for identification, bearing the stamped inscription ”LE COMMANDO INOX” on the obverse and ”MARQUE & MODELE DEPOSES SUPER-NOGENT” on the reverse, signifying its registered design and manufacture by the prestigious Super-Nogent firm. The hilt is a black, designed for superior handling under adverse conditions, and terminates in a flared pommel. The dagger is housed in its original brown leather scabbard, which is equipped with a blackened metal chape, a robust steel belt clip for paratrooper or field use, and a long leather security lanyard.
