Anders Monsen Askevold (1834 - 1900) Oil on Canvas, Signed, Measures (22 x 32 inches ) w/frame (26.5 x 35 inches ) Andres Monsen Askevold, born in 1834 in Askvoll, Norway, began his training in Bergen in 1847 with Hans Leganger Reusch. In 1855 he took private lessons with Hans Frederik Gude in Düsseldorf and then switched to his landscape painting class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. In addition to the life and impressions of nature in his Norwegian homeland, Askevold's work was shaped by study visits to Paris and Munich until he finally settled in Düsseldorf in 1878.
