Issac Irving Wolfson (1898-1981) Etching, titled "Post Office New York City", Pencil Signed bottom right Edition 99 of ?. Good Condition. Irving Wolfson was born on December 10, 1898, in New York City. His father, Benjamin Wolfson, and his mother were both professional photographers. As a youngster, he displayed exceptional artistic ability. He won scholarships to three of New York’s finest art schools, the National Academy of Fine Arts, Cooper Union, and the Art Students League. His teacher and mentor, John Sloan, had a significant influence over Wolfson’s work. Slone encouraged Wolfson to adopt everyday scenes as his primary subject matter. He studied printmaking with well-known artist Joseph Pennell.
