This attractive print was published ca.1780 in an ed. of Cook's Voyages.Captain James Cook (1728–1779) was a British explorer, navigator, and cartographer known for his three voyages to the Pacific Ocean. He made detailed maps of Newfoundland and was the first European to reach the eastern coast of Australia and Hawaii. Cook's expeditions greatly contributed to the knowledge of the Pacific region, including its islands, peoples, and natural history.
