The works were published in Gotha, 1833-61.Joseph Meyer (1796-1856) was a German publisher and entrepreneur. He founded the Bibliographisches Institut in 1826, which became famous for its high-quality encyclopedias and illustrated books. Meyer was dedicated to making knowledge accessible to the public and published the widely popular Meyers Konversations-Lexikon.
