The figures on the plate are numbered 38 to 49, totaling 12 figures.It comes from the Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers (French for Encyclopedia, or a Systematic Dictionary of the Sciences, Arts and Crafts), which was a comprehensive encyclopedia published in France between 1751 and 1772, with subsequent supplements, revisions, and translations.
