Magnus von Wright (1805–1868) was the first taxidermist working with the vertebrate collections of Helsinki University. Beginning his career in the 1820s, he prepared specimens for the Societas pro Flora et Fauna Fennica and later served as taxidermist at the university's zoological museum. He also undertook study trips to Stockholm and St. Petersburg, authored a manual on mounting birds, and published the first Finnish bird handbook in 1859.
