French Bronze Sculpture of Flying Mercury by Jean Bologne
A French bronze sculpture depicting the Roman god Mercury flying, after Flemish sculptor Giambologna.
Mercury is represented naked, with wings on his feet and helmet, propelled by Aeolus's strong breath of wind.
The statue stands on a black marble base and is marked Made in France. Signed Jean Bologne on the foot of the bronze.
Measuring H 24.5 D 6 inches.
Condition: fair. The statue does not stand. There are two signs of repair to the mouth of Aeolus and the Caduceus staff.
