Antique Hopi Butterfly Tableta - An antique, hand-painted and carved, Hopi tableta in a butterfly motif. Dimensions: H 18 x W 16 x D 0.25 inches Condition: Missing the head harness, some paint chipping and loss, fragile when handled. Signs of age and use Tabletas are traditionally worn by young Hopi women in ceremonial dances. This piece, when first produced, would have had a leather harness in the lower cutout portion where it would have secured to the young lady's head and been worn for various ceremonial dances.
