Pair of Palekh Oval and Rectangular Russian Lacquer Boxes - A pair of Russian lacquer boxes, each handcrafted from paper-mache with beautifully hand painted scenes. The oval box depicts a court scene with elegantly dressed figures and architectural elements. The box is framed with gold scrollwork and the base is marked with the Palekh factory mark. The rectangular box features a horse and sleigh scene. The border contains gold scrollwork and Russian script.
