Bronze Sculpture with Marble Base measuring H 9 x W 4.5 x D 3 inches

Provenance: Private Collection

Austrian artist Josef Lorenzl is one of the most recognized sculptors and ceramicists of the Art Deco period. Art collectors praise Josef Lorenzl sculptures of lithe dancers for their detailed form and illusion of movement. He learned how to cast bronze at the Vienna Arsenal, a military storage complex. While many of his sculptures feature mixed materials and ceramics, his most well-known pieces are of ivory or bronze. Josef Lorenzl artwork for sale includes many of his mixed material sculptures inspired by the freedom and delicateness of the female form. A large number of Josef Lorenzl's last sculptures were lost to the art world after his death, an unfortunate fact for his collectors.
