A letter from Harding L. Lawrence, CEO of Braniff International, explains that this work is a reproduction of Calder's gouache made as a commemoration of the bicentennial plane Calder decorated for Braniff, and which was christened by Betty Ford. The gouache was reproduced as a print exclusively for Braniff employees and associates.
