Cheyenne Beaded Skull Cracker War Club 19th century - The lot features a exceptional Southern Cheyenne Native American Indian fully beaded war club dating to the 19th Century. The head is in a skull cracker design with the head being attached to the haft via a wrapping of parfleche rawhide, allowing the head to flap back and forth, gaining momentum when swung. The head shows a stone material as the blunt weapon which is wrapped in parfleche rawhide that is sewn with sinew and shows a dark rich brown patina. The entire wood haft handle is covered in a geometric stripped glass beaded pattern showing chalk white, Cheyenne pink, and cobalt blue. The end of the war club tomahawk shows a wrapping of Great American Bison Buffalo curly fur accenting the 22 inch long drop of horse hair. The war club shows a fine condition which has been preserved over the years. Provenance: From a Northwestern Montana collection.
