Item Overview

Description:

Pair of Replica Cannons From Different Eras
Denix Civil War Miniature 12 Pounder Replica Cannon
Mostly employed in the period of the American Civil War, Dahlgren guns were muzzle loading naval artillery designed by, and named after, Rear Admiral John A. Dahlgren USN. Dahlgren's design philosophy evolved from an accidental explosion of a 32-pounder that actually killed a gunner. Dahlgren thought that a safer, more powerful naval cannon could be designed by simply applying more scientific design criteria. Dahlgren guns were designed with a smooth curved shape, equalizing strain and concentrating more of the weight of the metal in the gun breech to keep the gun from bursting. This miniature cannon reproduction of the famed 12 Pounder cannon is truly a distinctive display piece for your home or office. Features include a wood carriage, 6" metal rimmed wheels, and a detachable ram and powder rod. Its 7.5" cast metal barrel can be removed from the carriage for closer inspection.
Miniature 19th Century Model Field Gun on Carriage. Cast Iron. A good, well-made piece, the field gun has good detail, with patina showing signs of use. It is stable.
