She received a scholarship to the Memphis Academy of Art, Memphis College of Art, where she received a BFA in Painting. She later received an MFA in Painting from the University of Florida. Since then her art has been exhibited in galleries, earned honors, placed her in teaching positions, and acquired by various institutions, corporations and individuals for their collections. My work has evolved from two primary influences. One is a life-long concern and reverence for the natural world. Of special interest to me are life cycles and disappearing habitats, experienced through the activities of gardening and traveling. These experiences become an amalgam of real, remembered and imagined places. The second influence comes from encountering the unexpected relationships among found objects, including text, which, when combined, form new meanings. In addition to these influences, physical limitations are allowing a deeper exploration of materials and processes. - Gretchen Ebersol
