Antique c1850 Carolina Lily with Trapunto Border - Antique c1850 Carolina Lily with Trapunto Border measuring 86x96”. It is comprised of 21 blocks, 10 by 10 inches, set on point, and staggered, 3 by 7. There is a 6 inch strippy sashing of Turkey red, orange, and white with a red cross cornerstones. The white setting triangles setting triangles each have a green leaf and stem with Turkey red and orange bud trapunto floral appliqué motif. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There are also the initials CK hand embroidered in petit point in each block. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied off white fabric binding. This quilt was collected in Pennsylvania.
