Guna Mola Matched Pair with Spirit Figures With Swords - Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s 14.5 x 17 inches (each panel) Matched pair of reverse appliqué mola panels, each depicting a standing spirit figure wearing a peaked headdress adorned with V-shaped motifs, holding a sword. Worked in three layers of red, black, and green cotton with additional appliqué and embroidery accents in orange, blue, purple, pink, and yellow throughout. Dense hand-stitching with cross-stitch embellishment at belts and headdress bands. Fully filled compositions with colorful slit-cut details animating the figures and surrounding field.
