Guna Mola Panel Cross with Four Angels and Chalice - Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s 13 × 17 inches Finely worked reverse appliqué mola panel depicting a central cross inscribed with ”INRI,” surrounded by four winged angel figures occupying each quadrant of the composition. The upper right angel plays guitar, while the upper left angel gazes in adoration; the lower angels are attended by a chalice and a flower motif. A radiating sunburst arcs the cross behind the inscription. The composition is densely filled with serpentine scroll forms, interlocking S-curves, and polychrome dash infill throughout. Executed in three layers of burgundy, black, and orange cotton with extensive applied appliqué passages and polychrome embroidery throughout. Provenance: From the Parker & Neal Collection.
