Guna Mola Panel With Storks - Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s 14.5 × 18 inches Vibrantly worked reverse appliqué mola panel featuring two large bespectacled storks on a crimson ground, their densely stitched bodies rendered in orange and black with elaborate crested heads, paired circular eye motifs, and long bills clasping fish tails. Twin stylized palm or banana leaf forms emerge between the figures at center, while elongated legs terminate in splayed feet below. The surrounding field is animated throughout with six-petaled flower rosettes in polychrome appliqué, scattered at regular intervals across the lower and side registers. Executed in three layers of red, black, and orange cotton with extensive applied appliqué passages and polychrome embroidery throughout. Provenance: From the Parker & Neal Collection.
