Guna Mola Panel Spiritual Gourd Forms - Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s 13 × 17 inches Worked in 3 layers of reverse appliqué,vappliqué, and hand embroidered mola panel featuring two interlocking gourd-shaped forms, each enclosing a central spiritual motif, worked in three layers of black, burgundy, and orange cotton with extensive multicolor hand embroidery throughout. The upper gourd contains a spiritual image rendered in pink and red appliqué; the lower gourds each enclose separate spirit fmotifs surrounded by densely stitched polychrome chevron and linear patterning. A field of multicolor appliquéd dash-stitch fills the borders on all sides. Provenance: From the Parker & Neal Collection.
