Two English Art Pottery Rouge-Glazed Vases by Carlton Ware and Crown Devon - Two mid-20th century Staffordshire art pottery vessels featuring deep red glazes and gilt highlights. The first item is a Carlton Ware Rouge Royale twin-handled footed vase. It features a burgundy red lustre glaze with a ribbed lower body and moulded foliate decoration. The interior is finished with a pale iridescent mother-of-pearl style glaze. Gilt detailing is applied to the rim, handles, and tiered foot. The base bears the printed black Carlton Ware Rouge Royale mark and a handwritten 1/. mark. The second item is a Crown Devon baluster-form vase with a monochrome deep red glaze. It has a flared foot and a restricted neck with a flared rim, accented by gilt bands. The base features a printed gold Crown Devon mark with a crown symbol and handwritten characters 334L and N. Carlton Ware vase height approx 14cm, Crown Devon vase height approx 16cm.
