An Early 20th Century Rusticated Briar Smoking Pipe with Sterling Silver Band by Kallenberg, Louis and Co. - This smoking pipe features a heavily rusticated briar bowl and shank with a dark-stained finish, fitted with a tapered mouthpiece. A sterling silver band is mounted between the shank and the stem. One side of the silver band is stamped with three individual shield-shaped marks containing the letters K, L, and D respectively, positioned above the text STERLING SILVER. The reverse side of the band bears three British hallmarks: a lowercase letter p, a lion passant indicating sterling silver, and a leopard head representing the London assay office. These marks, specifically the KLD initials, identify the silversmithing firm Kallenberg, Louis and Co., which was active in London during the early 20th century. The date letter p corresponds to the year 1910. The stem is constructed from vulcanite. Overall length: 145mm.
