A Victorian Silver-Plated Tea Kettle on Stand by Henry Stratford and Sons - A Victorian silver-plated tea kettle on stand with its original spirit burner, manufactured by Henry Stratford and Sons of Sheffield. The kettle features a bulbous body with decorative vertical fluting to the lower half and a curved spout. It is fitted with a high-arched fixed handle with scrolled terminals and a hinged lid topped with an ebonised wood finial. The kettle sits upon a circular stand supported by four swept cabriole-style legs ending in scroll feet. The central removable spirit burner retains its wick and cover. The base of the kettle is stamped with the maker's mark H.S & S and includes four pseudo-hallmarks within shields comprising a crown, a gothic letter S, a letter B, and a letter A. Above these marks is an EP stamp confirming the item is electroplated. It is further marked with the numerals 1859 and 3, and features hand-incised characters reading 2/5272 and D.
