Mid-20th Century Novelty Cast Brass Rocket and Cannon Desk Set - An unattributed mid-20th century novelty desk set of cast brass construction. The set features a shield-shaped base upon which is mounted a miniature field cannon on a wheeled carriage. Behind the cannon is a recessed socket holding a rocket-form object, which serves as a desk ornament. The rocket is designed with a tapered body, three integral fins, and a pointed tip, supported by a slender metal rod that fits into the base. No internal filling system or conventional nib is present. The underside of the base shows a single flat-head screw and circular marks from the sand-casting process. No maker's marks, serial numbers, or symbols are visible.
