A Cauldon Blue and White Transfer-Printed Octagonal Bowl in the Italian Pattern - A Cauldon Ltd. earthenware bowl of octagonal form raised on a circular foot. The piece is decorated with a blue transfer-printed version of the Italian pattern, featuring a classical scene of a figure in a horse-drawn chariot set against a landscape of mountains, temples, and a river. This motif is repeated around the interior and exterior walls, with a central medallion in the well repeating the chariot scene. The inner rim and the exterior of the foot are finished with a decorative scrolling foliate border. The base bears a blue transfer-printed mark depicting a chariot above the words CAULDON and ENGLAND. Approximate diameter: 18-20cm.
