Portmeirion Pottery No. 1 Size Treacle Glazed Game Pie Dish - A Portmeirion Pottery No. 1 size treacle glazed game pie dish, manufactured in England as part of the oven-to-table range. This oval-shaped lidded casserole dish is constructed from earthenware and finished in a rich, dark brown treacle glaze. The domed lid is decorated in high relief with a naturalistic scene of a reclining deer, game birds including a pheasant and duck, and a hare, all set against a background of wheat sheaves. The lid features two integral curved handles. The main body of the dish is adorned with moulded swags of hanging game birds interspersed with stalks of grain. The underside bears an impressed circular mark for Portmeirion, incorporating the size numeral 1 and Made in England, alongside a smaller impressed Oven to Table mark.
