Mid-Century Modern Style Italian Art Pottery Lion Ashtray - A ceramic ashtray of square form featuring a deep circular central well. The earthenware base is finished in a high-gloss black glaze. Resting on the rim and across one corner is a molded, stylized figure of a recumbent lion. The lion is decorated in a vibrant mottled red glaze with cream-coloured highlights applied to emphasize the mane, face, and paws. The piece reflects the aesthetic of mid-century Italian art pottery, commonly associated with regions such as San Marino. The underside of the base has an unglazed circular foot-rim and carries a modern white adhesive inventory sticker. Dimensions: Base approximately 15 cm x 15 cm.
