A Pair of Newport Pottery Co Ltd Berries Pattern Lidded Tureens - A pair of small, circular, twin-handled lidded vegetable tureens or soup bowls manufactured by the Newport Pottery Co Ltd of Burslem, Staffordshire. These earthenware items feature a dark blue transfer-printed decoration in the Berries pattern set against a cream-coloured ground. The design consists of scrolling foliate swags interspersed with clusters of berries, which is applied to the lids, the exterior of the bowls, and the handles. The lid finials are further decorated with a blue floral motif. The base of each tureen bears a blue printed manufacturer mark featuring the arched text NEWPORT POTTERY CO LD above a graphic of a greyhound standing upon a crown. The crown base contains the words MADE IN ENGLAND, with BURSLEM and the pattern name BERRIES printed below. Interior diameter: 125mm.
