Item Overview
Description:
An assortment of vintage games and related postal ephemera. The lot features a folding wooden travel chess set, similar in style to soldier pocket games of the mid-20th century, with a green and natural wood board designed with peg holes to secure the pieces during play. The set is accompanied by a collection of gold-coloured peg-style chess pieces. Also included are multiple sets of playing cards: a twin-deck set housed in a red textured box containing decks with red scrollwork and a blue architectural illustration of The Daily Telegraph and Morning Post building; a single deck labelled as Linen Finish in a decorative grey slipcase; and a further deck displaying a traditional English village street scene illustration. Additionally, the lot includes a vintage brown cardboard postal lid from W. D. & H. O. Wills, Bristol, addressed to a Miss H. Thomas in Rastrick, Yorkshire, and bearing the printed code PB 170S.
FOR ALL AUCTIONS HELD WEEKLY ALL LOTS MUST BE PAID AND REMOVED FROM THE AUCTION HOUSE BY 12 Noon Saturday of that week otherwise:
1. If paid and not collected without prior arrangement*. A fee of £1 per lot (£5 for larger items) + vat per day storage charge will be applied from that day.
The amount will be added to the bill and must be paid before release of goods.
Once the value equates to the value of the goods we will put back into an auction to cover the fees.
This means you will forfeit the items.
2. If NOT paid and collected or ready for post we shall re-enter the goods in the next auction and restrict bidding privileges on your account.
This will show on your account to other Auction Houses of non-payment.
WE DON'T HAVE ANY STORAGE SPACE AND HAVE TO PAY VENDORS WEEKLY.
IF YOU CANNOT ADHERE TO THIS, PLEASE DON'T BID.
*Prior Arrangement: COLLECTION DAYS ARE WEDNESDAY to FRIDAY 10-4pm and SATURDAY 9-12pm ONLY.
Any collections outside of these Hours must by prior arrangement in writing via email only enquiries@darwenauctioneers.co.uk and agreed with the Auction House.
