26-piece Sichterman tableware, Qianlong - 26-piece porcelain tableware decorated with the Sichterman family crest and blue patterned decor, consisting of a teapot, creamer, tea caddy, pattipan, 9 cups and saucers, large saucer, small saucer, covered bowl, and bowl, China, Qianlong period, ca. 1740. Largest saucer 21 cm diameter (2 cups glued, covered bowl glued and with 1 hairline crack, lidded vase restored with a staple, large saucer with 1 chip). Groningen resident Jan Albert Sichterman (1692-1764) made a fortune for the Dutch East India Company (VOC). In 1745, he bought a spacious house on the Ossenmarkt in Groningen, which he filled with his enormous art collection: exotic furniture, art treasures, paintings in gold frames, and porcelain, often bearing his own family crest. After his death, the entire collection was auctioned.
