The exterior is adorned with delicate, hand-engraved ornamental decoration and further embellished with small natural Oriental half pearls, giving the piece a distinctive historicist style. The closure features a precisely fitting snap mechanism and bears a hallmark set in a cartouche-like frame – typical of French or Belgian hallmarks from the late 19th century.
