L. N. Fowler Ceramic Phrenology Head Bust - A ceramic phrenology head bust attributed to L. N. Fowler. The object features a crackle-glaze white surface with diagrammatic segmentation of the cranium marked with numerous phrenological faculties, including 'Intuition,' 'Sublimity,' 'Veneration,' and 'Love of Home.' The integral pedestal base is accented with dark blue banding. The front of the base is inscribed PHRENOLOGY BY L. N. FOWLER. The reverse of the base features a descriptive text beginning For thirty years I have studied Crania... and signed L. N. Fowler. The right side of the base bears a partially visible circular inscription reading, in part, ENTERED AT STATIONERS HALL. Stands 11”
