An Early 19th Century Needlework Sampler by Elizabeth Darwin Dated 1815 - A needlework sampler executed in dark thread on a linen ground. The work is organized into multiple horizontal registers. The upper sections feature uppercase and lowercase alphabets alongside a numerical sequence from 1 to 16. Decorative geometric borders separate the registers. The central section contains a pious verse from Proverbs 30:8-9. The lower section includes stylized crown motifs and various individual initials. The piece is signed Elizabeth Darwin and dated 1815. It is housed in a contemporary black frame under glass. Width: 12.5 inches
