A Japanese Maki-e and Nashiji Lacquered Circular Lidded Box - A Japanese circular lidded box, constructed in black lacquer (urushi). The exterior lid features maki-e decoration depicting a mountainous landscape scene. The scene includes a small orange-roofed structure, possibly a shrine or teahouse, situated amongst stylised trees rendered in green and gold pigments. The interior of both the base and lid is finished with gold-flecked nashiji lacquer. The box is formed with a shallow circular profile and a snug-fitting lid. Diameter: 8.8 cm Height: 2.5 cm.
