WWII Japanese Type 95 Shin Gunto Katana w/Papers - A Japanese Non-Commissioned Officers, Type 95 Shin Gunto Katana made during World War II. The sword comes with “War Trophy” paperwork dated October 21, 1945, issued to a “Christ Limperos” of Company B, 532nd Engineer Boat & Shore Regiment, assigned to the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Please see additional information below. *BLADE: World War II, machine made. The blade length is 26 3/8” and has a straight temper line. There is a small chip in the blade edge near the kissak (tip) *BLADE MARKINGS: Serial number 300208 marked on right blade along with a single kanji character. *HABAKI: Brass, no markings. *GUARD (Tsuba): Plain steel with no markings. *HANDLE (Tsuka): Made of wood with incised cross-hatching and plain black iron mounts, very common with late war production. A catch release is affixed to the tsuka and there is a red/brown field grade officers tassel attached to the kabuto-gane (hilt buttcap). The wood shows wear from use and the tassel shows fraying. *SCABBARD (Saya): Painted wood with a single metal ashi and obi-tori. The saya exhibits 90% of the factory brownish green paint. There are visible dents and scratches on the saya, common with field use. The metal parts still retain their factory black paint but do show wear from use.
