WWII M1 Helmet and OPFOR Liner, Ration Booklets - 1) M1 helmet manufactured by McCord Radiator & Manufacturing Co., Detroit, Michigan. McCord began production June 1941 and produced twenty million M1 helmets. This example has the sloped characteristics of the McCord helmet, as well as the squared swivel bale weld style. It has a rear seam. In relic condition, with noticeable pitting, and has three shades of OD green. Outer paint layers may have protected the original OD painted cork surface, making it a good candidate for restoration. 2) The liner is in original condition and manufactured by the CAPAC Manufacturing Company, in Capac, Michigan. This “high pressure” M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “cross” with the words “Capac” in the crown. Capac started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942 and produced between 2,000,000 – 4,000,000 M-1 helmet liners by the war’s end August 1945. This liner was converted into an OPFOR Aggressor Helmet during the Cold War for training exercises. There is a tear in the material at the front rim, but aside from that, its condition is solid. Missing the wooden crest that was part of the OPFOR helmet style. 3) Brown marked ration folder contains eight ration booklets from the war. Issued in Milwaukee area.
