WWII US Pacific Theater CBI Blood Chit, USMC Cap - 1) Framed and preserved American blood chit for a US pilot flying in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater. Was originally sewn to back of jacket. The message in Chinese characters was a plea for help to Chinese civilians promising that the pilot was an ally. Translations are approximate: Right side: “Come to China to help in the war” or “Helped in the war in China”. Middle: “The military and the people are as one” or “ Military and civilians are one body”. Left: “Rescue” or “Medical Assistance” and “Aeronautical Commission”. It features the US and Republic of China flags side by side with Chinese characters below. At some point before it was framed, it was thumbtacked to a flat surface. Evidence of stitch holes along the top edge of the piece. Has not been removed from frame to see if there is any information on back. Leather measures 11.25” wide x 9” tall. The frame is 16.5” wide x 14.5” tall. 2) USMC Overseas cap. WWII named to “L.T. Dremman” of “55 Co USMC” [part of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines] and his SN was “30941014” All information written in green ink in liner. Nice prominent Globe and Anchor screw back insignia affixed.
