1832-1851 US Navy CPT Cased Epaulettes - Cased epaulette set for a United States Navy Captain. This particular style was in use between 1832-1851. The pair comes in its original functional case. Black exterior finish with silver metal interior. Case is dinged up in places and has loss of paint. Its dimensions are 6.5” x9.5” x 5.75” tall. The central oval shaped compartment has a flip up lid. It serves as a base for the storage of the epaulettes. The epaulettes have no manufacturer marks on them. They are in good condition and it looks like the lower portions have been re-lined w/ blue velvet. Both have black leather undersides brass loops for silk laces [present]. The upper visible portions of the epaulettes exhibit quite well. Gold bullion overall with silver Captain eagles flanked by oak leaf branches. The metal arcs on each side exhibit minimal scratches. The coiled gold bullion threads that hang below are in good condition with minimal kinks or tangles. The outer layer is larger diameter coils while the inner layer of a smaller diameter. US Navy Federal eagle button on each. Each epaulette measures 7.5” long x 6” wide x 3.75” tall. A nice set for your collection. Please see photos.
