WWII German Luftwaffe Officers Sword & Scabbard - WWII German Luftwaffe Officers Sword & Scabbard. Marked “SMF Solingen” on Ricasso. Nickel silver hilt fittings show light wear to hilt with most of the gilding lost on the pommel and crossguard brass swastikas. Crossguard quillons show minor wear and patination to recesses. The blue leather grip shows minimal wear with one visible abrasions on the high spot of the grip. Leather and is clean and complete with tight double wire wrap. Blade shows surface runner marks, darkening of surface and numerous nicks to both edges. Tip is dinged. Has blue leather buffer pad in good condition. The dent-free scabbard shows numerous wear and nicks to leather. Upper and lower scabbard fittings are complete with all four retaining screws. The integral leather hanger is complete but has come apart some stitching coming apart. Overall this sword should clean up with some TLC. Blade length: 30”. Sword length approx: 37.25”.
