13th Ulan Regt Sgt. Maj Epaulettes, Sword - Regimental Sergeant Major epaulettes and sword circa 1889. The Permanent rank Regimental Sergeant Major (of the 13th Ulan Regiment) was the only NCO to wear regimental cypher on his epaulettes in gold silk to match the quality of the officers parade uniforms. The Regimental Sergeant Major was the only NCO that carried an officer’s sword and knot on parade. Lion head sword, The Colonel-in Chief of the 13th Ulan Regiment was The Kaiser himself. Lion head sword marked “E.F. Horster Solingen” on the Ricasso. Clean, bright blade profusely decorated and etched on both sides. Blade length:31.5” and sword length 38.5”. Nice clean scabbard, no marks, nicks, dents. Sword knot attached to handle complete, leather supple, and silver bullion thread décor in good, stable condition. Epaulettes for the 13th Ulan Regimental Sergeant Major with embroidered cyphers are in their original box, and are in good condition, with patina commensurate with their age. Case dimensions: .5”x8”x2”. Each epaulette measures 6”x4.75”x1”. A beautiful grouping from a unique and privileged rank in a historic regiment. See photos.
