WWII Photo Albums, 1961 Clippings NASA - Two photo/scrapbook albums dating back to WWII and as late as mid 1960’s. 1)US Navy photo album with painted leather cover. Marked “Property of William Otto Levy 1945”. Album contains two series of widely distributed wartime photograph sets, as well as early US and Russian spaceflight newspaper clippings circa 1961. First series of 12 US Navy airplane photos, measuring 4”x5”. Second series of 150 photos measuring 3.5” x 2.5”. Features various locations in the Pacific, including: Bougainville; Guadalcanal; Solomon Isl.; Tarawa; Cape Gloucester; Kwajalein Atoll, Namur, Marshall Isl.; Saipan; Okinawa; Iwo Jima; Peleliu and Guam. At the end of the album, are 21 pages of newspaper clippings circa 1961 covering the first flights into space by Yuri Gagarin and Alan Shepard. A fascinating contemporary grouping of articles with dates written on some. Album measures 11”x7”x1.5”. 2) Large photo album/scrapbook with embossed cover featuring vehicles of Army, Navy, and Air Force. Contents revolve around the Levy family of Berwyn, Illinois including Buck; Chuck; Bud; Jack; and Bill Levy. 90 photos are mounted in album and there are a selection of at least a dozen loose photographs of multiple dimensions. In addition to the Levy boys, the other soldiers featured in the album are relatives who are also serving. The selection of newspaper clippings from local papers highlight the service of the Levy Family in the war. Album measures 12” x14” x 1”. See photos.
