3 Native American Style Knives & Sheaths - This collection features three hand-crafted, Native American style knife sheaths accompanied by two utilitarian fixed-blade knives. The sheaths are constructed from heavy rawhide, showcasing traditional-style geometric parfleche painting in vibrant blues, reds, yellows, and oranges. The collection includes a large sheath measuring 12” x 3.5”, a medium sheath at 10” x 3”, and a slender sheath at 11” x 2.25”. One sheath is further adorned with tin cones (tinklers) and dyed horsehair or feathers, evoking a 19th-century Plains aesthetic. The included knives are classic ”Old Hickory” style trade blades; the largest measures 13.5” long, and the smaller knife, clearly stamped ”ONTARIO KNIFE CO.,” measures 10.25” long. Both knives feature professional copper-riveted wood grips. These pieces represent a blend of functional 20th-century cutlery and decorative indigenous-inspired leatherwork. The items show significant age and ”field wear,” including heavy scuffing, staining to the leather, minor pigment loss, and a notable notch/tear in the largest sheath.
