"The Jews in the world" - an anti-Semitic poster disguised as a teaching. Berlin, 1940

Lehrschau-Bogen: Die Juden in der Welt - 'Instruction leaf The Jews in the world'. Published by Reichswaltung des Nationalsozialistischen Lehrerbundes, Berlin, [1940]. German. An anti-Semitic poster on behalf of the teachers' union of the Reich government, for teaching purposes. Includes anti-Semitic photographs accompanied by "explanations" (by Prof. Johan van Liers, SS weapon man and the important ideologues of the Nazi regime). printed on both sides.

A poster that "explains" to the student who the Jews actually are and what their purpose is. The text opens with the anti-Semitic sentence: "Judaism always rushes to a new war in order to bring the peoples under its complete control... The Jews strived for this goal long before the Nazis came to power... The punishment of criminal Judaism is inevitable. In the former Poland, the largest group of Jews fell into our hands. Now the Jews who saw themselves as the chosen people...must work on their own...".

Above on the right is an illustration in which a contented Jew is seen looking at the ruins of the city as a result of the war, and a quote from the words of the Italian Minister of State appears: "We are convinced today that the current conflict was started by the Jews...". On the left is a photo of Jewish butchers holding the butcher knives in their hands.. Below are two illustrations - one simulating the Jews working in Egypt, and the other the Jews working in Poland under the Nazi occupation.

On the other side of the poster appears a map of the world with the marking of the Jewish diaspora, and an anti-Semitic inscription describing the number of Jews in the various countries. To the left of the map is a photograph of Eastern European Jews and an anti-Semitic caption describing how the Jews were expelled between the 12th and 14th centuries, and settled in the East and multiplied until there is no number "Today there are about 3 million Jews in the former Poland region, a million who immigrated only in the last hundred years". Below Photographs of prominent Jews in the European public next to Churchill, and an anti-Semitic caption simulating the influence of the Jews to the influence of Churchill himself.

The poster has an "educational" nature and is written in the form of an authentic report about the Jews apparently without hidden goals. Thus, in the square that appears on the lower right are the questions to which the student will find the answers in the content of the poster: "Where are the Jews from? What do you know about the Talmud? Why is there great opposition to the Jews? Why is this a Jewish war?"

The Reich Government Teachers Union issued several anti-Semitic posters in this series in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
