Three early publications on the atrocities of the Nazi death camps - Three early publications documenting the atrocities of the Nazi death camps. BUCHENWALD – Poèmes extraits de Je reviens de l'enfer by Léon Leloir, of the White Fathers, Chief Chaplain of the Maquis of the Ardennes. Published by Témoignage Chrétien, France, 1945 – First edition. Leloir was active in the French Resistance against the Nazis, arrested in July 1944, interrogated, and deported to Buchenwald. After his liberation in April 1945, he resumed writing but his life was cut short when he was killed in a car accident in September 1945. The publication features poems he wrote in the camp during the war, published shortly before his death. In his verses, he conveys the agony of captivity, the feeling of being both alive and dead, the suffering of the prisoners, and how the Nazis reduced ordinary people to human skeletons — but also a message of hope and a sense of mission to bear witness to the horrors of war. In French. Die Konzentrationslager – Eine Gewissensfrage für das deutsche Volk und für die Welt (The Concentration Camps – A Question of Conscience for the German People and for the World) by Ph.
