“This War Will Be Won in the Language of Weapons...” – An aggressive leaflet disparaging the military capabilities of the Allied forces during the height of World War II - “This War Will Be Won in the Language of Weapons...” – A propaganda leaflet issued by the Axis powers during World War II, attacking the military capabilities of the United States and its allies. France, 1942. In French. Rare. Produced by the Axis propaganda department, this leaflet mocks the Allied forces and particularly targets the United States, portraying its supposed defeat on the Pacific front. It derides American leadership and military overconfidence, citing a statement by the U.S. Chief of Naval Operations: “We will defeat Japan in 90 days.” In contrast, it highlights Japan’s military victories across various battlefronts beginning December 8, 1941, the day Japan entered the war with the United States. Among the claims are: “The Japanese sink a gunboat, ” “The Japanese capture Kuala Lumpur, ” and others. The leaflet includes photos depicting President Roosevelt and other American leaders in a mocking and humiliating manner. One section jeers at the Allies’ ambition to win the war: “The Americans wanted to defeat Japan within 90 days, but within 90 days they were driven out of East Asia. Today, once again, they are publishing marvelous and record-breaking stories about the state of their weapons technology. It’s the same bluff as the 90-day prophecy. This struggle will not be won with inflated speeches and guaranteed victories, but in the language of weapons which Germany, Italy, and Japan, the three powers of the Tripartite Pact, are preparing for the new world order and for the living space of all peoples.” See: Dynasty Auction 22, Item 30 (where the Serbian version of this leaflet was sold).
