In this context, I feel a duty, a responsibility to state publicly, now, my conception, from a military point of view, of what is required to prevent another international catastrophe... It no longer seems practical to continue what we once regarded as hemispheric defense as an adequate basis for our security. Today, we are concerned with the peace of the entire world. And peace can only be preserved by the strong...”. He recommends an ongoing period of training and preparation for future generations of combat forces. Moshe Dayan [1915–1981] – Israeli military leader, statesman, and public figure. Beginning his career as an officer in the Haganah and Palmach, Dayan rose through the ranks to become the fourth Chief of Staff of the IDF, which he commanded during the 1956 Sinai Campaign. He later served as a Knesset member and minister in various Israeli governments, holding office as Minister of Defense during the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War, and as Foreign Minister in Menachem Begin’s government during the signing of the peace treaty with Egypt. 123 [1] pages.
