Warsaw, March 1940. The Jews seen in the photo were rounded up for forced labor at a work site on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street. This is one of the most well-known photographs documenting the beginning of forced labor imposed on the Jews in the city of Warsaw, even before the establishment of the ghetto (which was created in November of that same year) following Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland.
